Wings is an out of the Ordinary story of Arnab Hassan, an Oxford based Bangladeshi physicist, who agrees to make a pair of wings for a rich industrialist obsessed with the idea of flying. The man, uncannily named Lark, had been frightened in his childhood by spiders and desperately wanted wings with which to fly out of their reach. As he advances through life, that initial desperation gives way to an obsession, and become almost a biological compulsion as he begins to believe that he is indeed destined to be a bird….
”You were sad, you were smiling. You were flying, yet your feet were firmly on the ground. You were besotted by the mores and turns of life. Amiya sadnam, you have the making of a great storyteller. Welcome to the small but growing circle of Bangladesh writers writing in English. I have read your first attempt at writing a novel and I am impressed by your handing of words and ideas. Keep it up.” Syed Shamsul Haq Poet, Novelist & Playwright.
